Q. Does rising damp really exist??

A. We can guess what you have been reading and it is a pity that there are some with a self publicity agenda that pedal ideas such as rising damp is a myth or does not exist at all to further their own careers. Of course rising damp exists and it is relatively easy to prove.  
Where we agree with the self publicists is that there is a good deal of  'misdiagnosis' going on driven mainly by the so called 'free survey' offered by commercially trading contractors. In most cases however the public are their own worst enemy since they will not pay for an independent opinion which more often than not will actually save them money by preventing unnecessary work. The undersigned has more than 36 years experience of damp diagnosis as well as inserting physical damp proof courses, chemical damp proof courses and control by other measures and yes - rising damp does exist! BUT rising damp does not exist when it has been misdiagnosed!
