What do you do if.....

* You have a damp or timber problem in your property?

* Your guarantee has expired or the issuing company is no longer in business and you believe there might be a problem?

* You have had several conflicting reports and opinions and you do not know which one to believe?

If you know very little about damp and timber problems in buildings then it is very probable that you will have to rely upon the opinion of a commercially trading contractor about whom you know very little. It is important to realise however that contractors earn their living by treating what they consider to be necessary so they have a significant vested interest in their own diagnosis. Rather like asking a barber if you need a haircut.

So what do you do?

The answer is to engage the services of a suitably qualified and experienced independent surveyor but alas there are not too many of these across the country as most work for contractors.

This service operates predominantly in the North of England, but Peter makes regular visits to London and the South East.
